A marriage-saving lesson plan
My Wife’s Dance Instructor begins with a sensible idea. A wife books tango lessons to repair the marriage. Then she stops coming, the husband keeps going, and the instructor’s private routine slides from technique into something harder to name.
Candy tags it Teacher and Wife and credits Monica Salazar in the cast list. The studio insists everything is technique, which is exactly what makes each lesson feel like a dare.
Why tango suits this story
Tango is close contact with strict rules: a firm frame, lead and follow, eye contact held a beat too long. The series borrows that grammar for tension. Every lesson is an excuse for proximity, and every lesson the wife skips is a plot point.
It is a slow-burn story about attention, with the wife’s absence doing as much work as the instructor’s presence. Expect suggestion and heat that builds in the music rather than in the dialogue.
